The couple was appearing at the press conference for the final round of the World Cup series America in Chicago and when fellow Australian Spithill was presented as "local hero Oracle Team USA," Ashby not he could help it.
When asked what he regarded as the toughest opposition of the New Zealand team, Ashby said: "Team GBR and AUS ... Team USA, I'm sorry you put the letters confused sometimes."

Spithill isn't the only Australian in Oracle with seven of the 14 crew hailing from across the Tasman, while two others have dual heritage, according to the team's website.
